Air National Guard Civil Engineering?
I’m 24 and want to join either the Air Force Reserves or Air National Guard. I went to speak with a recruiter today and he said that they offer civil engineering jobs (pretty much trades) at Scott Air Force Base.
So my question is will I have to worry about my job being outsourced to a contractor if I was say doing HVAC? I want to learn something to help me out in the real world.
Also, other than the tuition are there any other benefits? I kept reading about the housing allowance, but I’m single with no dependents.
If your at the lowest rank and go to Iraq, would you still make enough to cover $800 worth of bills back in the US? Do you get a special pay check when you come back home?
Everything like that are subbed out to a contractor. Even overseas.
You don’t get housing allowance. Only active duty gets that.
If you are E1 and get deployed, you should be able to cover $800 worth of bills. You get paid the 1st and the 15th of every month in the military.
